Sonic Art Collection (Page 68-69) by darkspeeds Sonic Art Collection (Page 68-69) by darkspeeds
Last but not least, we got the super awesome Dawn Best (who has contributed her artistic talent to the good folks at Archie Publications in the past) with her thoughts on the subject of 'heroism' in the Sonic Archie comics and how they will bring influence to readers, and perhaps, have them learn a thing or two about life.

I liked how she focused on about family, roots, and believing in yourself - your identity.

What's really cool is the fact that she even did her own drawings for the magazine! I wasn't expecting it but hell yes is it bloody awesome to get some originals like that, I don't take it for granted - so thank you Dawn!

Anyways hope you guys and gals will gain something from each of the writer's (who are just as much of a fan of the Sonic comic series as you are) profound wisdom contained in their write-up. I certainly enjoyed reading them and will take those ideas with me in life. *thumbs up*

That graphic pattern is very singular! :)
Despite the inclination of the text, everything is still very well readable (never pass the 30-35 degrees, when you tilt a text ;D) and it makes the whole page very dynamic! Well played, doing this sort of things is very easy to make it going wrong... ;)

The echidnas rock. :D Is this gonna be (or is it already) a book out in stores? I'm really interested!

Love it!!!! I always love Knuckles, but Shade looks awesome in Dawn Best's style! Plus, I never see any artwork of Shade, a true shame. She (and Blaze) are definitely my favorite female Sonic characters, love how well-developed they are.
Anyway, been keeping tabs on your updates and everything is looking great! :D
And this is just plain awesome; definitely adding this to my favorites :D

Thank you very much. Dawn's the winner on this page and rightfully so!

Blaze is one of my favs too, let's see how she pans out in Pirate Plunder Panic! :D

Ah yes that's right! :D I've been enjoying World's Collide so much I forgot about that! And honestly, I used to dislike Mega Man and have no interest in the series at all; but between the cross-over with Sonic (and Smash Bros.), I looked into the games and now am really enjoying MM 2 on my 3DS :)
But I'm really glad for Tracy Yardley that he's doing the writing for Pirate Plunder Panic; I was very impressed at how he handled Babylon Rising, it'll be cool to see him do a more light-hearted story.
I wanted to ask you, did you read the solicitation for Sonic the Hedgehog 253? Do you think the "Sky Patrol" mentioned are actually the characters from Tails Sky Patrol?

Perhaps you're right. = )

I personally would not know but I'd say you're not far from the possibility of a valid answer to that question of yours. ;)

The slanted text is a little hard for me to read. I see that you are following the lines from the artwork, but perhaps just tilt the title and leave the majority of the text level for readability?

I love how you drew them!

Ah, this is really cool! Glad she was able to contribute art! That was swell of her.

Interesting that she went with a more general approach and incorporated an example from the games (from my understanding, elements and characters from Sonic Chronicles have shown up in the comics along with Another Time in Another Place adaptation like they've done for the other recent Sonic games, but that specific incident hasn't shown up in the comics yet. Of course, if I'm totally wrong on that, that's my bad!). Also giving some input in what's in her mind as she draws them is interesting! It's a different approach from the other two Hero Speak participants but it still works well. uwu

Yup that was a cool bonus to tie up some game elements to the discussion point - after all Archie Comics (the Sonic the Hedgehog titles), in hindsight, is really a glorified monthly ad for SEGA's top seller 'Sonic the Hedgehog'. Many of the readers don't really see the bigger picture - the fact that 'Sonic' is set at a global stage and that Archie Comics needs to follow that license to a 'T', not the other way around.

Anyways to give you some insight into your inquiry about the Sonic Chronicles in the comics - yup that one was featured in #191 (which is one issue before the one that Chris made mention in his write-up! What a coincidence that it's only one issue away from these two folks who are sharing their vision's example). :D

And yes, Dawn rocks. Nuff said.

She's even done some additional sketches that I haven't used - perhaps I may be able to utilise for one final showing, which is the next page! 8-)

Yeah, but at the same time, the Archie Sonic comics have their individual feel from the main series and people tend to make a fuss when they see things that make it seem like that might be taken away to make it into a comic that's as close to the games as possible. I don't think that will happen anytime soon though, SEGA has been fairly cool about that sorta stuff (although stuff like, say, Charmy getting his personality changed to be more like the games instead of how it was before strikes me as unnecessary, but hey, it's SEGA's call on that kind of stuff. Not much Archie can do about that.)

Yes, that exact issue! That's what I meant by "Another Time in Another Place adaptation like they've done for the other recent Sonic games". As in, "a promo for upcoming Sonic titles that doesn't actually have any place or impact on the main comic storyline". I brought it up because I just wanted to verify that I didn't end up missing an issue where they DID adapt Sonic Chronicles within the comic story beyond some mentions of certain characters in a few issues here and there but apparently that's not the case. Thanks for the clarification!

Ohh, additional sketches? Super nice! OWO!
