Picnic Heaven Idea

Oh my gosh! This was sitting on my Pc for more than 8 months!!! LMAO! XXD

Just to let you guys know what made me begin the Picnic Heaven comic series there was a combination of two factors:

One: I wanted to portray a background story for Blaze The Cat

At that time I was really inspired by Sonic Team's new creation of the cat character Blaze The Cat starring in the new game for Nintendo DS - Sonic RUSH. The brilliant design and personality engaged me to try to expose an alternate story to her that is closely related to the game universe. ^^ The funky music and upbeat tunes from the game engaged me furthermore because a lot of the songs I figured out are not only attributed to the level you're playing in but also to the character you're playing with (a lot of the songs are tailored to Blaze's unfolding plot as she catches up with Sonic/Sonic catches up with Blaze throughout the game).

Two: I got inspired by Taeshilh's comic style

I've always wanted to be able to master her comic format and panelling style cuz I thought it was darn cool to be able to do it! I remember trying it once but it just failed because I wasn't used to directing a story from box to box. To come up with something as brilliant as her work truly requires planning and creativity skills. I had a chat with her via Skype this morning (Yay! What an honour! ^^ She was awesome to talk too! LOL! XD) and was amazed to figure out how she actually created each comic from scratch. It was awesome to learn more from the pro! Mua ha ha! XD Thanks Taeshilh! *hug and thumbs up* So yeah I began the box-by-box technique 8 months ago and it was rather successful thanks to your feedback! *hugs to the fans and friends of Sonic/DA community*


So what is the fate of Picnic Heaven? When will it continue? What was the original concept?

Well let me answer the last part first before moving on to the earlier questions.

The original concept was showing the origins of Blaze The Cat. I didn't even explain how Blaze got into the group at the very beginning. XD But as each episode of Picnic Heaven was complete I wanted to build it to a climax where her brother Phoenix will show up in the finals tournament. He will explain to the whole audience that the tournament was deliberately hosted to facilitate his plans to bring Blaze back to her world and destroy it using the gem stones.

Now you see, the gem stones lost it's power because he used it up to destroy his own city and royal bloodline. He plans to use the gems to eventually destroy the entire kingdom himself. With motives aside I'll explain to you that the gems are out of power and the only way to get it's energy restored is through force.

Force can be collected in two ways:

i) Time (it will take at least a year for it's energy levels to regenerate to max capacity after full use)
ii) Force Spirit (this can come in various forms - ki, soul, karma, or drive)

The tournament facilitated the transfer of 'drive' because it is a form of Force that is extracted from the fighting spirits of each battle from the Sonic Fighters Cup.

So anyway I better not give out too much info otherwise it'll confuse you! LMAO! XXD

But just to let you know that Big The Cat is actually Blaze's older brother (he is also brother to Phoenix but is younger than him by two years! ^^)

Phoenix one day changed his personality for mysterious reasons. It was too late to stop Phoenix and his power to destroy his own beautiful kingdom. Even Big The Cat (in his normal true form) tried to stop him but as a consequence turned him into the Big we know and love so well. ^^

Anyway I'll leave it there for you to think about the true purpose of the Picnic Heaven series. I mean don't get me wrong, it was not only used to tell the story of Blaze the Cat but it was also used to express humour that was not portrayed extensively/dramatically compared to my other more serious mangas/comics.

I had a lot of fun and I'll always treasure the experiences I had with you all when I drew this comic series 8 months ago.

Oh and BTW Picnic Heaven may continue shortly after the holiday break in a months time! ^^ This is because I may want to work on my SA2 Fan-Comic (and possibly Tails Away) before the exam period. XD At least 6 pages or so! It's been a long wait for you guys! ;_; ^^
