Nara87's Fanart Coloured

After four years this fan art piece is something I still really admire. The redesign that came from Nara87 was impeccable. It didn't look too 'Soniccy' and it didn't look to 'furry' either. A perfect balance I thought to myself at that time.

This could have been a turning point for me as I could have used her design (with permission of course) as a staple for the series 4 years ago... But I decided to take the lazy route and stuck with what I learnt from Yuji Uekawa style (ala Sonic Adventure design artist from Sonic Team Japan). Though it was a safe way to appeal readers there was the sacrifice of the series lacking originality from a design perspective.

I have no regrets though as over the fours years I've slowly found out new ways to deviate from Yuji Uekawa's style and formulate a perfect blend between the two styles mentioned above to make what I call 'anthro-cartoon' style.

The current GRAND HUNTER series uses this style and will continue to explore new ways to further deviate away from an official 'Sonic Adventure' style. Inspirations that keep me on the route to a more original anthro-cartoon style include Dream Keepers, X-DRAGOON, Bittersweet Candy Bowl and Amulet series.
