Insight: The Emu and Wombat

Hey guys! Here's a quick insight into the new plans for the chapters I have on the first two books!

I'm constantly changing and adapting to proactive ways to get the best out of the book contents.

I remember my publisher Dave from Local Act Comics suggested that I do a more simple cover with a strong emphasis on the title and logos. Also have less colours to avoid disorientation of the guy who's going to pick your book out of a thousand others in the shop.

I also remembered my experience of asking questions to Sydney's Kings Comics manager and also the recently opened ComicsZone in Perth (just visited the guys there today!) and they told me how having a visually-strong cover appeals to the crowd of comic-go-getters in general when making they make an initial purchase (usually the tourist or visitor - not the regulars though).

What they mean is comic covers with fancy and almost-state-of-the-art quality images or eye-candy covers that make you feel it is worth looking into - something attractive and colourful.

With this contrasting opinion from the experts who sell the stuff (very friendly people too ^^) I took it into consideration for my future covers. I can start appreciating that the first trial run cover sucked majorly and needs refinement.

I'm going to stick to Dave's opinion about a more clear, simplistic and meaningful approach and use less detail on a background and focus more on what appears from the front - one the most important thing in the story - the characters themselves! = )


So yeah I reckon that looks pretty sweet for a cover for the second book entitled: MY FRIEND IS A WOMBAT. I'm pretty excited about how I'm going to colour this. = )
