Featured Artists - Instructions Page 01

Description

When it comes to receiving a manual containing instructions for a task or assignment I cringe at the long-winded text on a plain old page - too boring.

What I've learnt about print design is that good design can make anything readable much more appealing. The colours, text-boxes, images, and fonts - how all of these elements are laid out on page - matters in a big way.

So to keep my art contributors to the mock publication project (ie SONIC ART COLLECTION Issue #01) here is the write-up done with complete graphics, color and stylized font. The submission deadline date is repeated on both pages, as well as it is highlighted with a strong bold colour from the rest of the color palate, to remind my colleagues the importance of their given deadline.

Hmmm, I'm finding these pages a tad confusing. Now, if I'm following correctly, these are instructions you're sending to the artists featured in the art book. I can understand that. However, are these also pages to be put in the book? If so they aren't going to make much sense. I mean, I know who the artists are because I can click their avatars and find them on DA. But a page in a book isn't DA. If I was just some random person looking at this page I'd have no idea who those people are. In fact, I might not even think those are avatars at all, they might be thumbnails of pictures. So I guess what I'm trying to say is this is seems like a very personalized set of instructions and is really only going to the most sense to the artists it's written for. Is that your intention? If so it's fine. If it's meant to make sense to anyone outside of DA, however, it maybe a tad confusing.

Oh, and you misspelled encyclopedia at the end there. ;)
