Crime Scene at Victorian East End

The concept behind it was introducing my potential crime/thriller, modern-noir inspired graphic novel featuring a hard-boiled detective named Hunter (he's a German Sherpard if you must know). Alongside him is his accidental and new-found assistant Erica (which you can find here). The two pair up to solve mysteries deep in the city of New Victoria - the setting is inspired from flim noir from Chicago/New York as well as Victorian era architecture.


I really love the story telling here - can you tell me what's going on? Who murdered the victim? What's with the toilet roll? Did Hunter notice something...?


The original did not have the rain effects applied, I did it digitally to save time. If I did it by hand it would take forever! Though there is a downside to this rain effect - it's not as smooth looking as the original, that is why I've spent the past 15 minutes debating which one I'd rather pick to submit on deviantART.


I'm happy to say that Leandro (my Perspective class instructor) encouraged me to stick with this concept as soon as I done my thumbnail last week. And from there it grew. Now our next assignment is to ink and give it some lighting (due next two weeks). Wish me luck!  


Also - just gonna point out that there are two focal points on this drawing, try to figure them out and you'll see that my design was deliberately done in way that could potentially become an infinite canvas (something I've learnt from Jasper last semester in Analysis and Form). Academy of Art rocks, nuff said.
