Wow, this took me about 15 hours... I'm improving on my painting speed!

This was a joy to paint. I've always wanted to do a painting of this beautiful level featured in SONIC UNLEASHED/SONIC WORLD ADVENTURE.

And what could top it off than presenting the hero of the series with a very attractive gal by his side? They're off to a picnic and regardless of where they go they'll find a spot that can't go wrong for beautiful scenery.

This Apotos level in the game was based off the real location of Mykonos Islands of Greece. I was very fotunate to have plenty of visual references to help me in the process. If you'd like to find out how this painting came about just head below the description and click on the journal entry.

I'd like to give a big thanks to Evan for giving me the opportunity to illustrate this beautiful piece - I adore the vibrant colors and the secluded and intimate nature of the scene. Evan got this for his girlfriend (where her persona is represented as that lovely girl Sonic's holding hands with - aka Sonar).

It's starting to take shape!
I'm really pleased with the results so far! I'm currently working on the foreground elements (stone floor, bougainvillea tree) followed by the background elements (the cityscape, clouds and sky).
This is how it came to be!



And viola! Sonic and Sonar fully rendered!

Also! I only just noticed something wrong with the picture. Can you see what it is (hint: it's to do with foreshortening)?
Anyways let's go fix that problem and continue painting! This commission has been really enjoyable so far! Oh and also...!!
