A Captain's Pride

So many elements to consider... The colour and lighting and their relationship. I was thinking of an orange-yellow sunset (more like an afternoon over cast from the looks of things!) by the sea and I think I reflected most of the lighting that comes off of that on the boat and in the background - the Kraken that is.

This took me the most time out of all four covers because it took me a long time get Bean's folding arms right - that was a real pain in the ass. Also I made further adjustments to the positioning of Amy because she looked too short in comparison to Cream from where she was standing. The detail on Captain Whisker was a challenge to ink and last but not least I had to fill in missing bits and pieces as I progressed in the rendering - for instance I forgotten to draw in the Kraken's arms in some places.

Nevertheless I'm very pleased to have finished the covers. I'm going to skip doing a fifth and focus on creating other artwork for the book contents. What would be next though...?


Well let me tell you - TRACY STYLED SONIC's x 2 and SHADOW FALL... (god DAMN, I haven't drawn Shadow the Hedgehog in a LONG time. I can't wait to dig in!! I missed drawing my favorite character (an awesome cool anti-hero he is) in the series.
